The Lost Language of the Body

Imagine what it would be like if you knew what was really behind the words he is saying, and why you have that "off" feeling.

Imagine how powerful it would be if you could use non-verbal communication to help break down her walls and get her to feel comfortable around you in a matter of moments.

Imagine how less scary business & client meetings would be if you knew exactly how to make yourself feel confident in what you have to offer because you FEEL confident in who you are.

We spend most of our lives connecting with others from the mouths up – when 90-95% of our language is actually coming from the rest of our body. We were born with more conscious awareness of how to "speak" and "read" this language. Yet as we are cultured, we "lose" the ability to speak this language.

Learning to interpret body language is a skill that is of vital importance in ALL areas of our lives ~ whether intimate, social, professional or even in our daily interactions out and about.  Knowing how to read AND RESPOND to non-verbal cues could mean the difference between touching someone with human kindness - or not.

Just like any language, there is more than simply learning the words that make up the language.  You have to also learn the culture the language is embedded in so that you can have context and derive meaning.  A look of surprise means nothing on its own...but in context to a question just asked of "did you know the petty cash was missing?"...this look will tell you all you need to know.

Just for fun, here a few questions to test your own knowledge of body language:

True or False

  1. The best way to approach someone you want to connect with, have a conversation with or get to know is with closed hands and a stern look on your face.
  2. The best way to get consent to approach someone is to make direct eye contact of 3-5 seconds once.
  3. Body Language is innate.
  4. Watching someone's eyes is the best way to tell how someone is feeling.
